1. Copyright ownership

  • Authors retain full copyright to their work.

  • Upon acceptance for publication, authors grant NCIJ the right to publish and distribute the article under the terms of a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license.

2. Creative Commons license

Under the CC BY-NC 4.0 license, others may:

  • Share – Copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format for non-commercial purposes.

  • Adapt – Remix, transform, and build upon the material for non-commercial purposes.

  • Attribute – Proper attribution must be provided, including:

    • Author's name

    • Title of the work

    • Link to the full text

    • Indication if changes were made

This license allows users to freely share and adapt the work, as long as they credit the original author and do not use the work for commercial purposes. It does not grant permission for commercial use.

3. Archiving and reuse

  • Authors are permitted to archive the final peer-reviewed version of their manuscript in:

    • Institutional repositories

    • Personal websites

    • Other non-commercial repositories

  • Authors may also share and reuse their work online, under the terms of the CC BY-NC 4.0 license.

4. Rights to post-print version

  • Authors may also distribute or share the published version (PDF), provided it is done under the CC BY-NC 4.0 license.

5. No commercial use

  • The CC BY-NC 4.0 license explicitly prohibits any commercial use of the published material.

  • Any adaptations, derivative works, or redistributions must also be strictly non-commercial in nature.

6. Author’s original rights

  • Authors retain the right to use their work in other non-commercial contexts, including:

    • Other publications

    • Books

    • Presentations

  • Proper attribution must always be given, and the use must align with the terms of the license.

7. Publisher’s rights

  • NCIJ retains the right to:

    • Make the article publicly available

    • Promote its distribution

    • Publish the article in online, print (if applicable), and other media formats related to academic dissemination
